Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week with electrical installation and maintenance apprentice, Tyreece

To mark National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up one of our Level 3 Electrical Installation and Maintenance apprentices, Tyreece Bloomfield, to find out how he is enjoying life as part of the team and the skills he’s gaining.

When did you join Maintech Power and how are you enjoying your apprenticeship?

I started my apprenticeship at Maintech Power in September 2024 after completing a Level 2 electrical qualification at college. I’m really enjoying gaining new experiences and knowledge all the time from the team that I’m working with.

Is the training very practical?

Massively, and that’s the best part. I’ve been out on site quite a lot, working on transformers and substations, which is really interesting. I work under supervision all of the time in a team of three of four experienced engineers, including a SAP (Senior Authorised Person), and they are all really helpful, giving me the chance to contribute to the projects and learn things that’ll stick with me for my whole career.

What are your career goals?

My main focus is completing my apprenticeship, but in the longer term I want to gain a Jointer’s qualification and progress to become a SAP engineer myself. I really want to build a career in this industry, and I’d love to stay with Maintech Power too.

Why would you recommend an apprenticeship?

It’s the best way to get a sense of reality in your education, experiencing real world situations that you’ll use throughout your whole career. You get to feel part of a team that is there to support each other.

What’s it like working a Maintech Power?

Maintech Power is a brilliant place to be an apprentice. Everyone here is really supportive and keen to teach and show you new things. Everyone has been very welcoming – I’ve had a great start to my career by working here!
