Fulcrum Group appoints Jonathan Chapman as Executive Chairman to support long-term growth strategy

Fulcrum Group has appointed experienced utilities and infrastructure leader Jonathan Chapman as Executive Chairman as the Group continues to strengthen its integrated service offering across the UK’s energy and infrastructure sectors.

A Chartered Civil Engineer with more than 35 years’ experience, Jonathan joins Fulcrum at a pivotal stage in its development as it enters a new three-year growth strategy focused on supporting customers across the full lifecycle of critical infrastructure assets.

Jonathan’s career spans the water, gas, power and telecommunications sectors, with experience across engineering, client-side operations and project delivery. Notably, he founded and led the UK business of Burns & McDonnell, growing it from a start-up operation to a 200-strong organisation with revenues approaching £100 million.

In addition to his role with Fulcrum Group, Jonathan serves as Vice Chair of CIGRE UK and continues to support leadership development and industry engagement across the utilities and infrastructure sectors.

His appointment further strengthens the Group’s leadership team as it continues to expand its presence across the UK’s energy and infrastructure sectors, where demand continues to grow for the specialist expertise required to support industrial and commercial developments, renewable energy projects, battery storage facilities and grid connections.

As Executive Chairman, Jonathan will work closely with the Group’s leadership team and Board to support the delivery of its long-term growth ambitions, while also providing strategic oversight and governance.

Through its Fulcrum, Dunamis and Maintech Power businesses, the Group brings together expertise in multi-utility infrastructure, High Voltage electrical networks, asset maintenance and specialist engineering services.

By combining these capabilities, Fulcrum Group is increasingly able to provide customers with a seamless, end-to-end service, supporting projects from initial connection and construction through to ongoing maintenance, upgrades and asset replacement.

The approach reflects growing demand from customers for trusted delivery partners capable of managing complex infrastructure requirements across multiple disciplines while maintaining long-term relationships throughout the lifecycle of critical assets.

Fulcrum is a business with a proud heritage, a highly respected brand and a strong platform for growth. Having worked across the utilities sector for more than three decades, I have seen first-hand the increasing demand for the infrastructure needed to support the UK’s transition to a more electrified future.

What particularly attracted me to the role was the breadth of expertise that already exists across the Group. Fulcrum combines specialist capabilities in utility infrastructure, High Voltage power and asset maintenance, supported by highly skilled people and long-standing customer relationships.

Customers increasingly want partners who can support them throughout the lifecycle of an asset rather than providing a single service at a single point in time. Fulcrum is uniquely positioned to bring those capabilities together, creating greater value for customers and building long-term relationships.

The opportunities emerging are significant, and I look forward to working alongside the Board and executive team to support the next phase of the Group’s growth.

Jonathan Chapman, Executive Chairman

Jonathan brings an exceptional combination of sector knowledge, leadership experience and strategic insight. His understanding of the utilities, infrastructure and energy markets, together with his proven ability to grow and develop businesses, make him the ideal Executive Chair for Fulcrum.

Fulcrum has built a strong reputation for delivering specialist services across multiple utility and infrastructure disciplines, supported by talented people and long-standing customer relationships. As the market continues to evolve, we see significant opportunities to further strengthen that position by offering customers a more integrated service across the full asset lifecycle.

Jonathan shares that vision and brings the experience needed to help accelerate our growth ambitions while maintaining the high standards, technical expertise and customer focus that underpin the business. We are delighted to welcome him to the Group and look forward to working together as we continue to build on Fulcrum’s success.
